A fun, relaxed night out where you’ll learn to play real, well-known songs on the ukulele — even if you’ve never played an instrument before.

What Is Uke Night?

Uke Night is a beginner-friendly, social music experience designed for people who are curious about music but don’t want pressure, theory, or a long-term commitment.

You’ll spend two hours in a welcoming, lighthearted environment learning how to play popular songs you already know — alongside a group of people who are just as new as you are.

Most people are surprised by how quickly it clicks.

No experience needed. No prep required. Just show up and enjoy the night.

What to Expect

  • A fun, relaxed atmosphere — come by yourself or with friends

  • Gentle, step-by-step guidance designed for absolute beginners

  • Play real songs from multiple decades and genres

  • Learn alongside others in a supportive, encouraging group

  • Leave feeling proud, energized, and glad you tried something new

By the end of the night, you won’t just have watched — you’ll be playing.

Do I Need Any Musical Experience?

Nope.
Uke Night is designed for people who have never played an instrument before.

You don’t need to read music.
You don’t need rhythm or coordination.
You don’t need to sing (but you’re welcome to if you feel like it).

Everything is guided, low-pressure, and beginner-safe.

Do I Need to Bring a Ukulele?

No — we provide everything you need, including a ukulele to use during the event.

If you already have one at home, you’re welcome to bring it along.
If not, just show up and we’ll take care of the rest.

For those who decide they’d like to keep playing, ukuleles will be available for purchase after the event.

As a thank-you for attending Uke Night, participants also receive access to a special attendee-only price — completely optional, no pressure.

The Venue – Shedpoint

Uke Night is hosted at Shedpoint, a co-warehousing and creative community in Calgary that’s home to a collection of small, local businesses who operate their shops, studios, warehouses, and offices all under one roof.

Shedpoint is home to Honolua Ukuleles, and includes a dedicated community hall designed for hands-on experiences, workshops, and events like Uke Night.

The space is warm, welcoming, and easy to settle into — a great fit for a relaxed, beginner-friendly night of music. Whether it’s your first time at Shedpoint or you’ve been before, you’ll feel comfortable as soon as you arrive.

Enter through door beside large Bay 140 door on SW side, free parking in attached lot.  Arrive a few minutes early to get settled in.
